ARA MALIKIAN – Karen Demirtchian Sport/Concert Complex (Yerevan)

Concert at Karen Demirtchian Sport/Concert Complex on October 13 and 14.

The world-renowned violinist, Ara Malikian, will be performing concerts for the first time in Armenia. These concerts are scheduled to take place on the 13th and 14th of October, 2023, at the Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex.
While being in the Homeland and showcasing his musical-performing art to Armenian audience, Malikian will support compatriots who have been forcibly displaced from Artsakh. Ara Malikian and “TM Production” will donate proceeds from the concerts to the Armenians of Artsakh.
Ara Malikian is a Spanish violinist of Lebanese origin and Armenian descent. At an early age his talent was recognized despite the circumstances in which the Lebanese civil war forced him to live, studying for long periods of time in bomb shelters. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. Later he continued his study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, as well as receiving lessons from renowned violinist and professors, Ruggiero Ricci, Ivry Gitlis, Herman Krebbers and others. Since 2000, Ara Malikian lives in Spain.
Ara Malikian’s extensive repertoire encompasses works from various musical genres by composers from different eras, ranging from Baroque to contemporary music. Armenian folk and classical music hold a significant position in the repertoire of the violinist. Ara Malikian has created a unique style, inspired by Middle-Eastern, Mid-European, Argentine and Spanish music cultures.
Ara Malikian has performed in over 40 countries: USA, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Norway, Czech Republic, China, Malaysia, etc. As a soloist, he has been invited by the following orchestras: Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid and others. Ara Malikian has released more than 20 albums. Among them are “15” (as a nod to his 15 years in Spain), “The Incredible Story of Violin”, “Royal Garage”, etc.
Ara Malikian will arrive in Armenia with his team and music band: pianist Iván “Melón” Lewis, bass player Iván Ruiz Machado, drummer Georvis Pico Milán, and guitarist Dayan Abad. Correspondents of prestigious Spanish media will also arrive in Armenia․ They will prepare reports dedicated to the ancient history and rich cultural heritage of Armenia and will cover Malikyan’s concerts in Armenia.
